In this “First Shashat Women’s Film Festival in Palestine” we
would like to expose the Palestinian public to key classic and
contemporary films made by women filmmakers over the last
several decades.
Some of the festival films will be used in the Gender Media
Outreach Program for Schools.
Each evening’s screening will include a double-bill of a
film\video by a Palestinian woman director and one by an Arab or
international woman filmmaker. A Palestinian woman
filmmaker will also be present to discuss her work and host each
evening of screenings. This will give wider exposure to the
works of Palestinian women filmmakers and expose the
international guests to them and their work. Each screening
will also include a discussion with the guest filmmaker and if
not present, then with a select guest in order to address the
issues generated by the film(s). Each screening will
include a Q&A with the guest filmmaker and if not present, then
with a select guest.
