SHASHAT’S FIRST WOMEN
FILM FESTIVAL IN PALESTINE
September 22 to September 29, 2005
“SHASHAT’s Women’s Film Festival in Palestine” is not a
traditional film festival. Its objectives and the presence of
films and guests are seen as an impetus to public awareness of
women’s creativity and the implications of representations of
women. The festival will take place from September 22 to
September 29, 2005 in three cities – Ramallah, Nablus and
Bethlehem.
The
festival will focus its outreach to the general public and the
Palestinian filmmaking community in general as well as the
woman’s filmmaking community in particular. It will be
proactive in concentrating special outreach to non-traditional
movie-going audiences such as university students, refugee camp
dwellers and high school children in order to expose them to
women’s cinema and women’s point-of-view. We hope to stimulate
public discussion of the themes of the films.
