Shashat 2nd Women's Film Festival in Palestine - 2006
“Shashat’s 2nd Women’s Film Festival in Palestine
- 2006” will encompass the most ambitious national tour of Palestinian films, highlighting the importance of Palestinie women filmmakers and their work. It will be a rolling festival extending over the period
from September 9 to December 14, 2006, in order to make the festival available
to the largest number of people throughout Palestine and provide them with the opportunity
to partake in its activities. The festival will take place in nine cities of
the West Bank and the Gaza Strip - Jenin, Tulkarem, Nablus, Jerusalem, Ramallah,
Birzeit, Bethlehem, Hebron and Gaza - and hold over 50 screenings.
This year‘s focus on Palestinian female filmmakers is motivated by the fact that most Palestinians have not seen works by national female filmmakers outside of the Ramallah-Jerusalem area. The tour will consist of ten packages of films by 15 Palestinian women to be shown at seven universities across Palestine. The filmmakers will
be present to discuss their work (September 16 – December 14, 2006).
